Description

AMGO MRL09: a mid-rise you can set flush into the floor and then park on

A mid-rise scissor lift normally costs you a bay whether it is working or not. The MRL09 does not have to. It can be recessed flush into the slab or bolted on top of it, and mounted flush it is a flat plate when it is down — you sweep over it, roll a toolbox across it, and park a car on that part of the bay as though the lift were not there. In a shop where floor space is the scarce resource, that turns a mid-rise from a machine that occupies a bay into one that shares it.

The second thing it does that fixed mid-rises cannot: the runways adjust in length from 61 3/8″ to 77 1/8″, so the platform matches the wheelbase in front of it rather than being sized once for the largest vehicle you might ever see. Capacity is 9,000 lbs (4,000 kg), the operating controls run at 24V, and the drive-in ramps are two-stage so a car meets a low step before it meets the platform.

Adjustable runway length, and why a fixed mid-rise makes you compromise

On a short-wheelbase car the platform pulls in, so the lift is not sticking out past the bodywork and getting in the way of the door. On a longer vehicle it extends, so both wheels sit properly supported rather than perched near the ends. A fixed-length mid-rise forces you to buy for the biggest thing you might one day drive on, and then live with an oversized lift for everything else.

24V at the controls, and why the number is small on purpose

The operating controls run at 24V. That is a safety voltage rather than a performance figure: the switch a technician holds — often with wet hands, on a floor that is rarely dry — is not carrying mains potential. It is the kind of design decision that costs the manufacturer something and never sells a lift, which is exactly why it is worth pointing out. Alongside it sit dual hydraulic synchronisation, so both sides of the platform rise together, and a hydraulic locking system that holds the platform where you left it.

Thickened scissor steel

The scissor assembly is made from thickened steel plate. On a scissor lift the arms are the structure — no column, no beam sharing the load — so plate thickness decides how the lift feels at full height and how it holds up over years of cycling. It is also the part you cannot inspect once the deck is down.

Will It Fit?

Measure these against your own bay before ordering. The measuring is the buyer's responsibility, and a scissor lift that does not suit the floor is an awkward thing to send back.

  • Floor length. 157 1/16″ overall with the ramps in place. The ramps are part of the footprint even when nothing is driving on, so allow for the full figure rather than the platform alone.
  • Floor width. 76 3/4″ overall, with 29 1/2″ between the runways. The gap between the runways is the working window for a transmission jack or a drain pan, so picture the job before you picture the vehicle.
  • Down height. 5 1/2″ at its lowest. The first stage of the drive-in ramp — the step a car meets before the platform — is listed on this page at 2 3/4″, and that figure is disputed; read the section below before you plan a low car around it.
  • Up height. 47 1/4″ maximum. Be honest with yourself about what that means: this is seated or stooped work at bench height, not walk-underneath work. If you need to stand up under a vehicle, you need a two-post or a four-post instead — tell us what the work is and we will point you at the right one.
  • Mounting. Flush or surface. Surface mount needs nothing but a sound slab. Flush mount needs a recess formed to the dimensions in the installation manual, which is concrete work you commission before the lift arrives, not after.
  • Power and control. A 2.0HP power unit, with the operating controls running at 24V.
  • Concrete. The slab thickness and strength required are set out in the installation manual. Read it before you order, and if you do not know what your floor is made of, core it.

Check the ramp height before you buy this for a low car

Published figures for the first stage of the drive-in ramp differ: the specification on this page gives 2 3/4″, while AMGO's current published specification gives a lower first-stage height — the figure the maker's own low-clearance description is built on. Both readings are set out here against the source that publishes them.

It is a small number doing a large job. On a lowered car the ramp entry is the whole question, which is why if you are buying the MRL09 for a specific low vehicle, tell us what it is and we will get the ramp and lowered heights confirmed by the manufacturer in writing before you order.

Perfect For

  • Tyre, brake and wheel work, where quick access at working height beats full elevation every time.
  • Quick-service bays that turn vehicles over fast and cannot spare the time to position two-post arms.
  • Shops with a mixed intake, where the adjustable runway length earns its keep across a day of different vehicles.
  • Detailers and wheel shops, and any bay that has to double as parking when the lift is down and mounted flush.

What is in the crate

  • The scissor lift with thickened-steel scissor assembly and adjustable platform length
  • Two-stage drive-in ramps
  • ETL certificated power unit, supplied as standard
  • Dual hydraulic synchronisation and the hydraulic locking system
  • 24V control circuit

Not supplied: anchors are specified in the manual, the electrical supply is yours, and any recess for a flush installation is concrete work you arrange separately. If you want rubber pad sets or extensions with this lift, ask us before you order rather than after.

Certification, stated plainly

The claim AMGO makes here is specific: the power unit is ETL certificated, and it comes that way as standard. That is a genuine third-party electrical safety certification, and it covers the power unit. It is not a safety listing covering the complete lift, and the product data we hold does not claim one — two ideas run together constantly in this category, almost always to the buyer's disadvantage. The difference never comes up in a home garage. It does for some commercial insurance policies, for fleet operations, and where local code names a listing for the whole machine. Find out what your insurer or inspector requires before you order, and ask us to confirm it with the manufacturer in writing.

Shipping and delivery

The MRL09 ships by freight truck within the lower 48, quoted live against your address at checkout rather than estimated in advance. A scissor lift arrives as one dense unit rather than a set of columns, so it is heavy for its size and easy to underestimate — unloading is the receiver's responsibility, so you need a forklift rated for it or a collection booked from the carrier's terminal, which is often the easier route. Residential delivery carries a residential fee, applied at checkout.

Inspect it before you sign. Check the ramps and platform edges for crush damage, the scissor assembly and hose runs for anything bent or weeping, and confirm the power unit is with the shipment. Write what you find on the bill of lading with the driver still there, and photograph it — a clean signature is the carrier's proof that the lift arrived undamaged.

Warranty

The MRL09 is covered by AMGO's global 5-3-2 policy: a five-year warranty on steel components, a three-year warranty on hydraulic parts and a two-year warranty on electrical components. How to open a claim with us is set out at mechanicsuperstore.com/pages/warranty-claims.

One warning applies to every hydraulic lift regardless of maker: do not take apart the power unit, a cylinder, a hose assembly or the locking mechanism before a claim is opened. A disassembled component is normally treated as a modified one, and that is the fastest way to lose cover you were entitled to. Photograph the fault, note the serial number, and call us first.
