It is ideally suited for hot/dusty work settings that require long periods of wear. If you have a 3M™ #8511 Particulate Respirator and are concerned about the valve in connection with source control, then you can cover the interior valve hole with size 1.88 inch 3M™ Multi Use Duct Tape. This tape is a NIOSH-approved accessory for the model 8511 respirator. Recommended for relief from dusts and certain particles encountered during sanding projects (bare wood, non-lead painted surfaces, or drywall), grinding, sawing, sweeping, installation of fiberglass insulation.
