Ten positions means there is a lock close to whatever height you actually want to work at, so nobody is tempted to work on hydraulics alone because the nearest lock was out of reach. And a lock that has to be remembered is a lock that gets skipped on the last job of the day; this one does not ask.\u003c\/p\u003e \u003cp\u003eThere is also a safety lowering limit switch worth knowing about before you use the lift. As the platforms come down to within 10 ½ inches of the ground, the descent stops on its own; to go the rest of the way the Down button has to be released and pressed again. That is deliberate.
